Maintenance work is expected to last all day and during that time, the Gun Range will be completely closed to visitors.

Please be patient and cooperative while this maintenance to the Gun Range is underway.

Canyon County Parks and Idaho Fish and Game are Looking for a Volunteer Camp Host at Martin Landing https://www.canyoncounty.id.gov/canyon-county-parks-and-idaho-fish-and-game-are-looking-for-a-volunteer-camp-host-at-martin-landing/ Tue, 27 Feb 2024 15:53:54 +0000 https://www.canyoncounty.id.gov/?p=45856 Canyon County Parks, Cultural & Natural Resources and the Idaho Department of Fish and Game are looking for a volunteer camp host to oversee basic maintenance, camping, and recreation activities at Martin Landing, which is located near Parma at the confluence of the Boise and Snake Rivers.

The volunteer camp host will receive a $200/month stipend and a complimentary RV site at Martin Landing that includes sewer, water, and electricity. The camp host must be on duty Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and all national holidays, during the camping season from April 1, 2024, through October 31, 2024. The primary purpose of a volunteer camp host is to assist and provide basic security for campers at Martin Landing. The duties of a camp host include the following:

  • Monitoring the public use of the area
  • General trash pickup
  • General cleaning and stocking of restrooms
  • Track and record campground usage
  • Inspect and clean campsites

Camp hosts work closely with Canyon County Park, Cultural & Natural Resources (CCPCNR), and the Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) to provide recreational opportunities in campgrounds. CCPCNR manages camping at Martin Landing. Although the camp host represents both agencies, his or her default supervision will be by CCPCNR.

Canyon County Awards Historic Preservation Support for Canyon County Historical Societies https://www.canyoncounty.id.gov/canyon-county-awards-historic-preservation-support-for-canyon-county-historical-societies/ Thu, 08 Feb 2024 17:10:53 +0000 https://www.canyoncounty.id.gov/?p=45437 On Thursday, Jan. 25, 2024, the Canyon County Board of Commissioners (BOCC) approved $19,716 in grants for Historic Preservation Support that will ultimately assist with the adopted City of Nampa Historic Preservation Plan (2020) goal of determining if the Shalimar Terrace & Glen View Estates neighborhoods are eligible for National Register Listing.

Shalimar Terrace has distinct mid-century ranch homes while the Glen View Estates has unique log-cabin style homes.

“Canyon County is happy to support another qualified historic preservation project of the Canyon County Historical Society,” said Nicki Schwend, Director of Canyon County Parks, Cultural and Natural Resources. “It is exciting to see projects that are assisting with Nampa’s Historic Preservation Plan goals while also fulfilling goals in the Canyon County Historic Preservation Plan through historic surveys and potential National Register Listings.”
