CANYON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS MEET WITH OKLAND CONSTRUCTION FOR SHERIFF’S ADMINISTRATION BUILDING UPDATE

CALDWELL, ID – On October 29th, 2025, the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC), met with Okland Construction for a quarterly update on the Sheriff’s Administration Building construction project located on Albany Street, between 12th and 13th Avenue.

As of the end of September, the project has reached several major milestones including full completion of the structural steel framework, roofing, and the bulk of the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work. The exterior is now fully wrapped with most of the air barrier installation finished, which means crews can move forward with interior finishes without worrying about the weather.

The project continues to stay on schedule. Work such as tile, painting, storefront glass, and millwork will carry through the end of the year. A short holiday pause in December has already been built into the timeline. The building is scheduled for completion in the Spring of 2026.

Over $13.5 million remains under the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) contract, and both contingency and allowance funds have seen minimal impact. That reflects solid planning and strong coordination among all partners. This project was funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Funds, part of the $1.9 trillion federal stimulus package passed in 2021.

“It’s been great working with Okland and Hummel on this project. They’re very professional and have done a fantastic job.” said Rick Britton, Public Works Director for Canyon County.
“There’s a lot of pride in being able to build a structure like this. It’s been a great, cohesive partnership within the County,” added Commissioner Leslie Van Beek.

As construction enters its final stretch, the Sheriff’s Administration Building continues to take shape as a modern and efficient, facility that will serve the constituents of Canyon County for years to come.
