Renewal Options
Options to renew your registration are:
- In the office, you can come into the office, we accept walk-ins or to ensure prompt service you can book an appointment with us.
- Email your request, you can email your renewal request to us at, mv@canyoncounty.id.gov, please include the plate number you wish to renew, the duration of the renewal example: 1 or 2 years and your contact information.
- By phone, to renew over the phone, please call 208-455-6020
- Online, you can go online to ITD’s website, www.Itd.idaho.gov
New to Idaho

What to bring:

- Certificate of Title
- The Vehicle
- Identification for each person to be listed on the title.One-Person-One-Record Personal Info.We will accept Identification issued to you by your previous state/You do not need to obtain an Idaho ID/DL prior to registering your vehicle in Idaho, although if you do not have an Idaho issued ID, you will also need to provide your Social Security number.

- Out of State with Lienholder (optional to print and bring with you)

Register via Email/PhoneYou can email a copy of the Pink form ITD-0502 to: MV@canyoncounty.id.gov
If your phone number is not listed on the form you will need to include it in your email along with any instructions such as if you would like new plates and a one or two year registration. If you would like to transfer your registration you will need to include the plate number you would like to have transferred. A clerk will contact you via telephone to collect the fees. Your documents will be mailed to you. These requests will be processed in the order they are received.

Private Party Purchase
You will need to bring in the properly assigned title provided to you by the seller. If the title provided to you was issued by a state other than Idaho you will also need to bring vehicle for an inspection of the Vehicle Identification number.
If you will be claiming a tax exemption you will need to also provide the required Idaho State tax form.
Emissions
7/1/23 The emissions program in the state of Idaho has ended. All vehicles previously cancelled for non-compliance with emissions testing have been reinstated.
