His professional certifications as an accountant, fraud examiner, and collective employment history with the State of Idaho, which involved fiduciary responsibilities and audits, will serve us well in his new capacity as controller. He shares a commitment to fiscal accuracy, transparency, and reporting that align with my goals of ensuring a culture of integrity, stewardship, and trust with public dollars in Canyon County.”
Kyle has served as a Bureau Chief for the Agriculture Inspections Division at the Idaho State Department of Agriculture, where he managed programs and provided audit and accounting expertise. His responsibilities included assisting with program budget development, supervising team members, and ensuring compliance with regulations. His strategic direction and financial oversight significantly contributed to the department’s success.
With over a decade of audit experience at the Legislative Services Audit Division for the State of Idaho, Kyle has conducted Annual Comprehensive Financial Reports (ACFR), Single Audits, Opinion Audits and Management Reviews. As an audit team lead for over six years, he demonstrated his ability to manage complex financial audits and ensure robust internal controls were in place and regulatory adherence.
He will assist and coordinate with all county departments in reviewing financial projections, monitoring budgets, and providing timely financial reports. His expertise will be instrumental in preparing the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and maintaining the county’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting status.
Kyle’s leadership and strategic vision will guide our county’s financial administration, and his dedication to public service will support our mission to serve the community with integrity and transparency. Please join us in welcoming Kyle Wilmot to our team and supporting him in his new role.
Kyle said, “I’m really excited to be involved with sharing the narrative of finances at the county-level of government and I can’t wait to dive into the budget and learn more about the levy process here at the County.”
One of his first major projects with the County will be the driving force behind our fiscal year 2025 budget and he said he couldn’t be happier to be a part of the process and getting right to work for our community.
