January 16, 2025—The Canyon County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) Marine Patrol Division is applying for Waterways Improvement Fund (WIF) grant funding from Idaho Parks and Recreation (IDPR) to build a Boater Education Training Facility next to Lake Lowell Park in Nampa. The facility would primarily be used for boater safety and education courses. It will feature a large, climate-controlled classroom to provide state-of-the-art educational opportunities for the public. The facility would also serve as a command post during search and rescue operations at Lake Lowell and a staging room for emergency responders. In addition to providing training and education to the boating public, the facility would also be made available to IDPR for its Marine Academy and other classes and Canyon County Parks, Cultural & Natural Resources for their annual Paddlesports and Canoe Science Camp classes.
If you have questions or comments about the proposed project, please contact CCSO Marine Patrol Sergeant Jason Roberts at jason.roberts@canyoncounty.id.gov. The deadline to submit questions and comments is January 28, 2025.
