July 18, 2024 — The Canyon County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) has arrested two women in connection with the homicide death of 37-year-old Travis Haywood Calumpit that occurred on July 12 at the Martin Landing campground. The women are identified as:

  • Melissa Fay Calumpit, age 35, of Battle Mountain, Nevada
  • Rosalie Lynn Morris, age 59, of Battle Mountain, Nevada

Both women have been booked into the Canyon County Jail on charges of first-degree murder. They are expected to be arraigned tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. at the Canyon County Courthouse.

The investigation remains ongoing.

SHERIFF’S OFFICE IDENTIFIES HOMICIDE VICTIM KILLED AT MARTIN LANDING CAMPGROUND ON JULY 12

July 15, 2024 — The Canyon County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) has identified the victim in the homicide that occurred on July 12 at the Martin Landing campground as Travis Haywood Calumpit, age 37, of Parma. Calumpit died as a result of a gunshot wound.

If anyone was in the area of Martin Landing, a camping and recreation area located at the confluence of the Snake and Boise rivers near Parma, on the day/evening of July 12 and has information that could assist with the investigation, please contact CCSO at (208) 454-7531 or Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS.

SHERIFF’S OFFICE INVESTIGATING HOMICIDE THAT OCCURRED AT MARTIN LANDING CAMPGROUND NEAR PARMA

On July 12, 2024, at approximately 9:30 pm, Canyon County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) dispatch received a report of a male subject who was unconscious and not breathing at Martin Landing, a camping and recreation area located at the confluence of the Snake and Boise rivers near Parma. CCSO deputies arrived on scene and located a male subject, approximately 40 years of age, who was deceased. The CCSO crime lab and detectives responded to the scene. Based on the circumstances and evidence collected at the scene, the Sheriff’s Office is ruling it as a homicide.

The investigation remains ongoing, and next of kin has been notified.

“At this time, we do not have a suspect in custody,” said Sheriff Kieran Donahue. “While this appears to be an isolated incident, the public should remain cautious and be aware that criminality of a violent nature does exist in our society.
