Two Young Men Graduate from Canyon County’s Juvenile Drug Court Program in Transformative Ceremony
CALDWELL, ID — Yesterday marked a significant milestone for two young men who graduated from the Canyon County Juvenile Drug Court program, a rigorous and transformative journey aimed at breaking the chains of addiction and setting a new path for their futures.
The ceremony was presided over by Judge Dayo Onanubosi and attended by the Honorable Gregory Moeller, Idaho Supreme Court Justice, who shared valuable insights with attendees.
Judge Onanubosi, who has spent fourteen-and-a-half years on the bench, proudly shared that these graduates bring the total number of successful completions to 23 since the program’s inception.
“Today, we are celebrating this day as a transformation of second chances,” said Judge Onanubosi. “These young men have worked tirelessly to break those chains of addiction, and today they mark 23 graduates of the county’s juvenile drug court program.”
Justice Moeller, who has served on the Idaho Supreme Court since 2019, emphasized the importance of decision-making in his speech. He shared a parable about a king who was challenged by his subjects to determine if a bird was alive or dead, illustrating that the future lies in one’s own hands.
“When will you make the most important decision of your life?” Justice Moeller asked. “The most important decisions you make in life are today and tomorrow. Your past decisions don’t dictate your future.”
Judge Onanubosi concluded the ceremony with a powerful message of hope and perseverance. “Do not let your past mistakes hold you back and define your future…stay faithful. We have given you all we can give you and have provided many tools to help you succeed. The road may not be easy, but if you try, you will succeed.”
The graduates were commended for completing their GEDs, fulfilling community service requirements, and successfully navigating the challenges of the Juvenile Drug Court program. Their dedication and resilience serve as an inspiration to others in the community.
