Upcoming Maintenance Closure Dates: The George W. Nourse Gun Range will be closed the last Thursday of every month (except where noted), from dawn to 3:30 PM. This recurring closure will allow us to clean and maintain the range, and make repairs as needed. Please plan your visits accordingly!

George W. Nourse Shooting Range
Open all year, daylight hours only
George W. Nourse is a small, unsupervised, public shooting range located on Nash Road on the south side of Pickles Butte. The Nourse Range is part of 1,350-acre Jubilee Park, operated by Canyon County Parks, Cultural and Natural Resources. There are twelve “shooting lanes” of various sizes and lengths, separated by earthen berms. Each range has a firing line established using large concrete blocks. There is no seating.

  • Rifle and pistol shooting are allowed at the range.
  • There is a vault toilet on site, but no potable water.
  • No cost to use range.
  • Open seven days a week; daylight hours only.
Year round, dawn until dusk.
There are no fees to use the Gun Range.

Directions:

  • From Interstate 84 take exit 33 for ID-55 toward Nampa/Marsing – 04. miles.
  • Use the right 2 lanes to turn right onto ID-55/W Karcher Rd (Pass by Red Robin on the left) – 6.6 miles.
  • Turn left onto Riverside Rd/Sunny Slope Rd – 4.7 miles.
  • Continue straight onto Riverside Rd – 3.0 miles.
  • Turn left onto Deer Flat Rd – 0.2 miles.
  • Turn right onto Nash Rd/Nash Ln – 2.1 miles.
  • Arrive at George W. Nourse Gun Range on your left.

Canyon County Range Advisory Board (RAB) Commission Members: Jim Nuzzo (Chairman), Nathan Guy (Secretary), Lew Shaver, Mathew Andrew, Bob Sobba

RAB Purpose: The Board shall be an advisory body to the Board of County Commissioners, and its purpose shall be to make recommendations concerning the operation and administration of the County Gun Range.

RAB Mission Statement: The Range Advisory Board works to provide access to a sustainable, quality public shooting range that provides a safe, recreational facility that promotes responsible firearm activities and shooting experience for the citizens of Canyon County.
